Welcome back, True Believers. Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) are here to talk about form on television, which is a fancy way of saying which is better a self-contained episode or ongoing storytelling. But first, they’ll start as always with a look at the news, which this week is really just the announcement of a new AMC series for Kevin Smith. In the Plot Points Corner, they touch back to the death of Astra on Supergirl, then forage on to Earth 2 on The Flash, Felicity’s papa on Arrow and the bloodbath that is The Walking Dead. Then, it’s forward to the Topic of the Week: how does format affect television watching. They end as always with The Things They Found Interesting, which include Better Call Saul and Downton Abbey.
We’re a tad late, True Believers. Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) ran into a touch of “technical difficulties”, so our podcast is a bit shorter this week. First, they’ll start as always with a look at the news, which had a touch of Riverdale casting. The Plot Points Corner is what took the hit, and is–alas–forever lost to us, but they’ll catch up next week. The topic for the week was lying: who does, why do they do it and what does it mean. The Things They Found Interesting include Daily Show Runaways and the past lives of our podcast hosts.
We’re shaking it up, True Believers. Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) are trying on a new format. First, they’ll start as always with a look at the news; today they re-examine DC not wanting to quit the Titans television show and Grant Gustin appearing on Supergirl. Then they introduce the new Plot Points Corner, where they will look at some of the noteworthy happenings in the comic book TV shows of the past week; this time they look at the death (?) of Hawkman, watch the iZombie women get their groove back and wonder what the hell dark matter is. Next, they introduce a topic of the week, and apply all the comic book TV shows past and present to it; this week’s topic is The Other, the opportunity for an actor to play a dual role and literally meet themselves in a scene. The end as always with The Things They Found Interesting, which include The Muppets and Grease Live!
Summer is here, True Believers and Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) are discussing the final episodes of the first season of iZombie. First though, they get their news on with some work for Jon Berenthal, a name change for Jessica Jones, a look at the Duh File and some possible Flash spoilers for season 2. After the iZombie talk, they rank all seven comic book shows they watched this season, with little guesswork about both their least and most favorite of the shows. They then begin their summer dive into the first season of The X-Files. They wrap it up, as always, with the Things They Found Interesting this week, which was just excuse to look at their summer viewing schedules.

We’ve had a major malfunction, True Believers. Computers crashed mid-recording, but we were able to save a bit of what we were planning to do. What you’ll hear is Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) discussing the trailer for the new CW show, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, as well as the last several episodes of The Flash and iZombie. What you’re missing is their picks for the best and worst of the new trailers that came out of recent broadcast upfronts. Maybe, they’ll cover those on the next podcast.
We’re nearing the end of the TV season and three of our regular shows have run their finales. Nick (@nickyahogan) and John (@johned970) are only discussing Gotham, Agents of SHIELD, and Arrow this week. But first they tackle the upfront news from 4 of the 5 broadcast networks, including renewals, cancellations and new comic book shows. This week’s Things That They Found Interesting looks a tiny bit at one of the new showsfor next fall and the universe changing in the worlds of the floppies.
